Things I learned from the mid-season finale of “Pretty Little Liars,” in no particular order:

• “Glamping” is camping with hair accessories and matching jumpsuits.

• Stealing money is OK, as long as you steal it from the old woman who snatched all your butterscotch candies.

• Alison is was a pretty little liar.

As the mid-season finale opened, the girls noticed a familiar face at school. It was Melissa’s ex-boyfriend Ian – also known as the kid from the 1999 Disney original movie “Smart House,” among other things. Looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Ian – he’s the school’s new field hockey coach.

Mona pranced over to the girls to invite them to her birthday party, which she humbly dubbed Camp Mona. The party, which took place in the woods (hence “glamping”), proved to be one of the most suspenseful sequences of the series thus far.

But first, a mass text… “Camp Mona’s a scavenger hunt and I’m the prize. Come and find me (expletive). –A”

At Spencer’s house, Melissa told her sis that Ian asked her to meet him for coffee. Spencer encouraged her to accept his invitation, but she wouldn’t budge, saying he broke her heart. Then, thanks to Spencer’s flashback, we understand why: Ian kissed Spencer while helping her with her golf swing in the backyard. When he walked away, Alison came into view and berated Spencer for being a “skank.” (Interesting. I wonder if Alison’s the pot or the kettle.)

Later, Ian showed up to Spencer’s house unannounced and, once again, asked Melissa if she’d join him for coffee. After a little convincing from her little sis, she agreed. That’s when Spencer decided to come clean to the girls about her fling with Ian.

At school, the gang was called to the office - this time by the FBI. They saw the video of Alison that was sent anonymously to the Rosewood Police Department.

“If the girls knew I was seeing you, they would not stop talking about it,” Alison said into the camera.

Emily noted that the video, which was filmed the morning of Alison’s disappearance, happened at the kissing rock. And that’s not all: It appeared that Alison was wearing Toby’s sweater, which was later found with her blood on it. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

After all the excitement in the principal’s office, Aria opened her locker and found a book and a note from A asking her to read page 22. It’s a poem Fitz wrote about her, called “B-26.” Did I miss something? What’s the significance of that title?

In more humiliating news, the entire school was buzzing that Hanna had liposuction last summer. She found out Mona started the rumor after receiving a text about it from A. Did A really text Mona? Or could Mona be A?

Maya and Emily’s playtime at Em's house was cut short when her dad returned home from overseas. Her mother, who is usually very friendly, sternly suggested Maya leave so the family could have some privacy. Later, when we see Emily’s mom looking at the photo booth pictures of the girls kissing, it all makes sense. Poor Emily.

Finally, it’s time for Camp Mona. Spencer and Aria had already arrived, Emily was on her way and Hanna, who was uninvited after news of her alleged liposuction surfaced, was preparing to stake out in the woods.

As Emily pulled into the woods, Toby popped up from the backseat of her car – at which point I also momentarily stopped breathing. He tried to prove his innocence, despite being super creepy. He told her he only asked Alison to meet him the morning she disappeared to thank her for getting him off the hook with Jenna, who's apparently in love with him. He said he gave Alison his sweater and that was the last he saw of her. Toby asked Emily not to tell her friends he’s back, in fear that they’d call the cops on him - which they eventually did.

Then, another message from A. “You found my bracelet, now come find me. Good luck (expletive).”

Luckily, Spencer knew exactly where they found the bracelet – down to the number of steps. Oh, TV. She returned with a matching bracelet embroidered with Jenna’s name and a note: “You’re looking for me in all the wrong places.”

This obviously meant they should be looking in the right places, or, rather, the “Wright” places. Emily and Spencer headed to Wright Playground, where they found a tree engraved with “Alison loves Ian.” Making sense yet?

One quick blow-dry later and Emily and Aria were ready for guest spots on “Jersey Shore.” Glamping is hard work. At least Aria’s hair flattened out before Fitz got there. She hopped in his car and the pair immediately began making out.

Hanna, who was perched on a rock, spying on the couple with her binoculars, noticed a shadowy figure behind the car. “I see you,” the shadowy figure/A wrote on Fitz’s back window.

“S.O.S. I know who A is. Heading to the parking lot,” Hanna texted the girls.

They met in the parking lot, at which point a car came out of nowhere and hit Hanna. The girls ran over to her, but they were too late.

Then their phones rang, signaling yet another text: “She knew too much. –A”

Of course she knew too much, A. You’ve been leaving her little clues for weeks!

The episode ends with the same video of Alison at the kissing rock. But, this time, we can see the mystery man – Ian.

So who is A and who killed Alison? Will Hanna be OK? Where were Jenna and Lucas? What did you think of the mid-season finale?
